On Thursday, May 25 at approximately 6:45 a.m., a delivery truck driver (operated by 56-year-old Maxwell Taylor), collided with multiple vehicles in East Meadow and North Bellmore, including a school bus, according to the Nassau County police.
Taylor, a resident of Amsterdam, was driving in the Freightliner tractor-truck, going southbound on Newbridge Road near Falcon Street, when his truck’s side mirror struck a school bus.
The bus had 18 student passengers inside.
Taylor continued driving and made his way into North Bellmore, where he collided with seven occupied vehicles near the 2450 Jerusalem Avenue Stop & Shop before eventually overturning the truck in the store’s parking lot.
In total, one 16-year-old student, four adults, and two children suffered minor injuries.
Taylor, who also was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, was arrested without further incident.
He is charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an incident and will be expected to return to First District Court on Wednesday, June 14.
